The theme of the displays changes every year, which in return keeps attracting up to 2 million visitors annually! Past themes have featured a giant LED illuminated model of Mount Fuji as well as a massive 20×120 meters illumination of Niagara Falls.

This year’s theme is based on ‘Heidi, Girl of the Alps’; a 1974 Japanese anime series based on the Swiss novel ‘Heidi’s Years of Wandering and Learning’ by Johanna Spyri. The backdrop of the theme will be the Matterhorn Peak in California, USA.

If you’re lucky enough to be around Nagoya and armed with the all-wonderful JR Pass then you should certainly consider visiting. You can take the JR train from Nagoya to Kuwana Station, where you’ll be able to ride the direct bus (¥240 one way) to Nabana no Sato park.
