Japan’s Abandoned Theme Park

Another one for my abandoned series, Nara Dreamland or Nara Dorīmurando (in the Japanese accent), is an abandoned theme park in Nara Prefecture, Japan. Based on Disneyland California, it was built in 1961 and subsequently closed in August 2006 due to a drop in popularity. If you thought the abandoned Japanese high school was freaky then you need to check this out…

Ok, so this was closed down due to a decreased number of visitors. I can understand that but, what I can’t comprehend is that, Japan being a mountainous archipelago, where flat land is very scarce, thus very expensive; so why was such a vast flat area abandoned and not demolished and reused?…what do you guys think? Please leave your comments below… hmmm…I wonder what it would take to start that roller coaster….

Wow seems surreal. Maybe something else happened there that was never brought to light? One thing is for sure – I wouldn’t want to be there at night time!
