Japanese Horror Movies

I was recently having a discussion with a friend about the new Iron Man movie and somehow along the lines we ended up discussing Japanese horror movies.
I love watching movies esp horror movies! What I’ve noticed is that most Hollywood movies tell the story of the extermination of evil spirits… However Japanese horror movies end with a suggestion that the spirit still remains at large. That’s because the Japanese don’t regard spirits only as enemies, but as extra terrestrials that co-exist with this world of ours…ooooooo spooky isn’t it!

Good Spirit? Evil Spirit?

The American cinema seems to have exhausted the horror genre as we have an increase in remakes of classic films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror and he Hills have Eyes.

Texas Chainsaw Masacre
It is for this reason Hollywood and its Western audiences have been looking elsewhere for inspiration. Here are some Japanese horror movies that have been remade by Hollywood!

I personally prefer the originals so if you don’t mind the subtitles I’d definitely recommend watching the original versions, you might even pick up some Japanese!
